Development Trends of New Energy and Traditional Fuel Vehicles in Shanghai's Consumer Market

At the beginning of 2019, Tesla started building a large factory in Shanghai, which took a year to complete. By the end of that year, the first batch of Model 3s was delivered to customers offline. In July 2025, Tesla officially announced that the Model 3 had sold 3 million units worldwide, averaging one Model 3 sold every 1.5 minutes over the past 8 years. Tesla and Chinese electric vehicle companies experienced rapid growth in less than 6 years, with electric vehicles making up over 50% of cars in Shanghai, setting an example for improving air quality and promoting clean electricity.
